Matthew Heap is a composer of contemporary concert music and music for the theater, who currently teaches at the University of West Virginia in Morgantown.

After graduating from Carnegie Mellon University with an honors degree in Music Composition and Theory, he continued his studies at the Royal College of Music in London, and gained his Master’s degree in 2006. He was awarded his Ph.D. at the University of Pittsburgh in April 2012.

In addition to his compositional activities, he is also an active actor and director.
